Tucked deep into the Damansara Heights neighbourhood, Hot Chocolat makes for a good hideaway eatery. The laid-back and unpretentious atmosphere puts you right at home, but the collection of rural landscapes and '50s paintings from Belgium and Holland seem too haphazardly put together to create any kind of character. The seafood chowder is a novelty, as it comes in a big bowl made of brown bread. Tastewise, though, it lacks the requisite creamy texture of chowder. A good bet is the Amatriciana pasta which has a springy texture and a meat-filled tomato-based sauce strongly flavoured with herbs and spices. And if you’re thinking of trying their namesake, forget it - unless you like diluted hot chocolate.
