Pretty, pixie-faced Swede, Hanna Flemström, isn’t just known for her Nordic good looks; she also moonlights as DJ Stella Nutella. Her wanderlust will take her to Kuala Lumpur, where she will be launching Red Square, the club touted as KL’s first and only vodka bar. Named after Moscow’s famous city square, Red Square debuted in Jakarta as Asia’s first vodka bar and DJ Stella Nutella is the perfect introduction to Red Square’s chic concept.
A regular in the club scene, DJ Stella brings her own breed of quirky house music, a psychedelic-progressive hybrid, combined with, basically, whatever else interests her. Her free-spirited nature, possibly a throwback to her days on dolphin cruises in Tenerife, makes her gigs a rip-roaring experience. She feeds off the audience’s energy, destroys the dance floor with psy-trance beats and exemplifies what it is to be the life of the party. Paris Hilton should take note.
Even her DJ name portends the direction of her music - eclectic and exhilarating. Stella was given to her as a nickname and means star in Italian, while Nutella is just a dig at her for being a bit of a nut, at least when it comes to her music. Her musical influences are vast, ranging from the perennial favorites of recording artists, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack and Radiohead, to infectious electro pop staples like Miss Kittin and The Knife. Her dedication to music from an early age of mixtapes and industrial concerts by Kraftwerk and Front 242 in Stockholm has paid off, and galvanized her arrival on the international scene as one of the top female DJs.
