The King of Crunk Lil Jon will bring his A-game to the launch of Lollipop, the new urban night at Kuala Lumpur's Mist Club. Flying half way around the world for a single launch – life must be sweet for Jonathan Mortimer Smith (Lil Jon’s real name).
Catapulting to fame as the undisputed ruler of his own hip-hop sub-genre, “Crunk” has become a cultural phenomenon, helmed by none other than its unapologetic front man Lil Jon, who is to Crunk what LeBron James is to the NBA. He’s also the proud owner of the largest diamond pendant in the world, which weighs in at 73 carats and, just in case you didn't notice, the in-your-face pendant spells out “Crunk Ain’t Dead”, a blatant testament to Lil Jon’s Crunk-centric style.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Lil Jon injects a little bit of “HotLanta” into his style of hip-hop. Strongly related to Miami Bass, also known as Booty Music, Lil Jon’s style shares the gritty kick, energetic dance tempos and explicit lyrics content that have made his name known in the Dirty Rap game. Award winning club anthems like “Get Low” and “What You Goin’ Do” are made infectious by his signature raw and unprocessed synthesizer riffs. He claims that he "was inspired by the synthesizer sounds of rave/dance music he heard playing in Atlanta strip clubs”. Crunk Rock is Lil Jon’s latest album offering, which already boasts 2 catchy hit singles: “Snap Yo Fingers”, featuring fellow BME artist E-40 and Sean Paul of YoungBloodZ as well as “Act A Fool” with Three 6 Mafia.
So, pack your crunk juice and your pimp cups for some expletive-loaded fun with Lil Jon on 17 October. Yeeeah!
