Nasi Lemak Hot Station

Ask for Hot Station, and Ampang residents will give you blank stares. Refer to this eatery as Nasi Lemak Taman Kosas or risk local derision. There’s nothing by way of ambience, especially since the stall just moved further down the road due to new buildings taking up thhe original space, but that’s okay, because the nasi lemak is exquisite. The sambal might be a bit too hot for some; if you can’t take spicy condiments, opt for the sambal sotong gravy, which is milder. The portions are made for second helpings, but the price range is conducive to that – heap on. The bergedel is a bit bland but that just means it won’t overpower everything else. The dried squid of the sambal sotong is succulent and tears easily. The piece de resistance has to be the fried chicken, which patrons buy just by itself sometimes – it’s juicy, perfectly marinated and usually piping hot straight from the stove. It’s self-service, so expect the staff to be unobtrusive and generally friendly. The only point of contention is that they’re rather inconsistent with racking up your bill.
