Goddezz Couture Club Review

Thursday, 28/08/08 - 16:04PM Filed in Nightlife by farhana | Views: 1053 | Comments: 0

If you’re new to SohoKL, it can be quite confusing to locate the club of your choice given the scale of the development. Not the case for Goddezz Couture Club though – just follow the pounding bass and you’ll be on the right track. Located right next to Raw, one of the earliest clubs to open at Soho, Goddezz is set for its official launch some time in September. The club though has been in operation for about a month when we paid it a visit. Its main façade is hard to miss as it sports a large neon sign declaring that you’ve arrived at Goddezz.

The concept here, if you haven’t guessed from its name, is that of a fashion dance bar. The club would like to focus on throwing events and shows, on top of the nightly debaucheries. Living up to that concept is a catwalk that is erected right smack in the middle of the dancefloor. On regular nights, it merely becomes a platform for clubbers to flaunt their moves. The layout of the club is reminiscent of Atmosphere, with split-levels and interesting odds and ends in the corner like a large potted plant and kitschy lamps that dangle from the ceiling. Upstairs is a VIP lounge that has a bird’s eye view of the entire club – great for people watching. Playing a mix of electro, retro and conventional dance music (we heard the likes of Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta), the sound system here is impressive. But if you just want to chill outside with a drink (RM24 for a pint of Guinness) after work though, it might not be the most relaxing environment as the music is so loud that it rumbles even the couches outside. Imagine the glory days of Bar Code … multiply their infamous music level about 15. Service though was extremely friendly during our visit as the staff took time out to explain about the club’s concept and apologized for their unfinished menus (it will be ready by the time of their launch, they assured).

For a weekday night, the club drew a healthy crowd and we have heard that it is beyond packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Happy Hours begin immediately when the club opens (around 5pm) and ends at 11pm, making sure that there’s ample time for you to get your drink on. Our tip is to wait until the end of September to drop by as that’s when you’ll be able to get the full Goddezz experience.
