Like his previous projects, Flica also falls in the post-rock, electronica genre but Euseng has said in an interview with Junk magazine that he focuses more on the “softer side of post-rock” when he is Flica. And indeed in tracks like “I”, one is instantly transported into dreamy soundscape where the melodies are crisp and warm. In “Flee”, one imagines the ocean while listening to it; it’s a song that is simply bursting with beauty and emotion. In January of this year, Flica released his album Windvane and Window on the mu-nest independent label. The 12-track album features vocals by local singer-songwriter Ika and sees Flica collaborating with popular indie label mastermind from Tokyo, Akira Kosemura and electro-acoustic musician, Haruka Nakamura. Mastered by Ricks Ang of Singaporean electronic act aspidistrafly, the album is currently available in countries like Taiwan, Japan, UK, USA and Hong Kong, marking the strong support the scene has for Flica’s sound. Flica will be performing his lush electronica music on 17 September, so do remember to check this emerging talent out.
