Hero

Following the recent success of Air Con, The Instant Cafe Theatre Company wastes no time in reaping critical acclaim to present Hero, a play by Arun Subramaniam. And apparently, expectations are riding high on this one too - after a reading of the play, Mano Maniam noted that Hero was a play ripe for plucking; a rare new kind of Malaysian play that just has to be staged.

Anguish and loss sets the premise for Hero, with the suffering borned by a family after the death of the father slash politician who was mysteriously assassinated. Presented via the eyes of the dead man, his wife and fourteen-year-old son, Hero coagulates dialogue and monologue via flash backs and present events that link affairs of state, power, faith and ego, while transgressing national and political interests with home at heart.

Hero is directed by Jo Kukathas and Zalfian Fuzi, starring Ley Shahwind Agilan, Indi Nadarajah and Anne James.
