Urbanscapes shenanigans

Wow, what an amazing day. Firstly, we want to thank everyone for rocking up and supporting Urbanscapes 08. If it weren't for you guys we wouldn't have had as much fun.

Our day started at 9am (*cough* some of us were a little late *cough*). The Marketplace vendors trickled in with their cars packed full of stuff to be sold through out the day. We were surprised that some of you guys showed up as early as 10am!! Very gung ho! Most of you got your shopping on even in the bleeding hot sun!

The KLPac foyer/gallery had some pretty interesting art up by They Art Studio, Creative United Movement, Lost Generation Art Space, Wondermilk, etc. We're glad most of you managed to catch the films and improv performances at the Cinetheatre.

Music started at 3.00pm. The Acoustic Livehouse was packed out with people cramming in to see Mia Palencia, Paolo Delfino, Yuna, Kokokaina and bunch more people.

The XPax Box had a nice mix of music from hip-hoppers Altimet, Phlowtron, Joe Flizzow to dance rockers Komplot, Otherside Orchestra to DJ's Van and Bass Agents. They had some really good crowds in there. And how cool were the live visuals?

The XPax Lawn stage saw bands like Estranged, Bittersweet, Love Me Butch, They Will Kill Us All and plenty more bands rock it. We had a bunch of technical problems but all in all, it worked out fine. We're just sorry some bands had to cut their sets short!

The Lakeside went off when Lapsap took the stage at around 7.45pm. Most of the DJ's did stage dives - reminiscent of Steve Aoki's antics at Zouk!!

We had to stop music at exactly 12 midnight and this is why...

We have a gazillion photos and hours of footage from the event that we're trying to compile as I'm typing this..so keep a look out for those soon! In the mean time, we'd love to hear what you thought of the event. Even though we were frantically running around, were sweating like mofos, didn't get to eat or pee, almost got sunburnt and are now sore and knackered...WE SURE HAD AN AWESOME TIME!!

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
