KL Sing Song Preview

Tuesday, 24/06/08 - 16:28PM Filed in Music by sarah | Views: 1581 | Comments: 5

KL Sing Song, organized by Troubadours, is back for its fourth round this July. It’s time once again for the spotlight to shine on some of the best singer-songwriters our local front has to offer. And the line-up for this year’s KL Sing Song doesn’t disappoint. Spread across three days at the black box of Pentas 2, KL Sing Song will feature 20 acts performing stripped down sets in an intimate setting, allowing the audience to appreciate the music in its rawest form.

On the first day, you can expect to see experienced artistes like Mia Palencia, Sherry and Reza Salleh perform on the same stage as emerging acts like Paolo Delfino, Otam and Izzy Mohamed. From Mia’s jazz-fueled vocals to Otam’s huskier tones, it’s a great way to kickstart KL Sing Song by showcasing a diversity of talent. Brace yourself for the second night as the line-up includes the award-winning Pete Teo (perhaps there’ll be an impromptu performance of “Here In My Home”?) and Shanon Shah, veteran Karen Nunis as well as Estrella, one of the year’s most popular band. There’ll also be two fresh names in the form of Rendra Zawawi and Edwin & Albert, who will perform their brand of Mandarin acoustic pop.

Speaking of fresh, songstress Yuna will be performing on the last day. Now this is one girl worth checking out live as she’s primed to go far – she sold out her demo at one gig alone. And if Yuna’s soulful vocals aren’t enough, there’s also legendary Meor, Peter Hassan & Markiza, Ian Chow & Tracy Wong, Panda Head Curry?, Nan Blues and the three Troubadours themselves: Jerome Kugan, Tan Sei Hon and Azmyl Yunor. Check out the Troubadours site for the latest updates.

Panda Head Curry? is only worthwhile in a bowl served by their homo lovers (they're actually closet homos, really) to compliment my banana leaf rice in my fiery parlor.

Panda Head Curry? are neither MCKK old boys, nor PKR aides.

Hence, they're hetrosexual, and the chicks love them.
