If you’re a fan of Date Movie, Scary Movie and Epic Movie, chances are you’re going to watch Superhero Movie without really needing a review to tell you if the movie is any good. Well, for the sake of formality, let’s just get it out in the open that Superhero Movie is the greatest movie ever if your age is about 13. Beyond the ridiculous amounts of silly slapstick humour, the other clue of the movie’s target demographic is in the endless references to web pop culture. From “two girls and one cup,” perezhilton.com, to Facebook, this is one movie designed to make the pre-pubescent get plenty of attention. The movie uses the first Spider-Man movie’s plot and bastardises it with elements of other superhero movies. Instead of Peter Parker turning into Spider-Man though, you have Rick Riker who, after getting bit by a mutated dragonfly, becomes the superhero with the same name. He battles a super villain, The Hourglass, whose origin isn’t too different from The Green Goblin. Fart jokes, spoofs of other super hero movies and more slapstick humour meet you pretty much every few minutes. It’s strange seeing how Pamela Anderson is billed so highly in this flick, she only shows up for five minutes during the spoof of X-Men with Tracy Morgan playing Professor X. This is one movie that is intentionally stupid. So the only thing you should consider in deciding to watch this is if you’re interested in turning your brain off for the film’s duration.
