Fête de la Musique Preview

Monday, 02/06/08 - 17:41PM Filed in Music by trainee | Views: 1072 | Comments: 1

Considering Fête de la Musique literally translates to Festival of Music, its rather name-fitting to have been successfully received globally the past twenty-six years. In keeping with our 6-year-old tradition, Malaysia will be among the hundred of countries to host a festival on the 21st June, the day of pure summer solstice. The twist this year comes in the form of multiple concerts to commemorate the fête, thanks to the Alliances Françaises de Kuala Lumpur and Penang and HELP University College. The Fête de la Musique is known to be largely spontaneous in nature, open to amateur and professional musicians without discrimination to resume, background, style and experience. So you can probably expect a school choir to come on right after a black eye-lined heavy metal band. The unstructured nature of the festival is the basis of its success, and at the same time, promotes cultural diversity to mass appeal. For a whole day, enjoy the musical stylings of Army of Three, Mixing Red and Blue, White Percussions, Octopus Sushi, Terry Incognita and many, many more. It’s that time of the year again, people – time to get cultured.

Date 20-22 June, 28 June Admission Free Venue HELP University College and Alliance Françaises de Kuala Lumpur and Penang Tel 03-2694 7880 Train N/A Website www.alliancefrancaise.org.my

just a little correction...'fete de la musique' actually translates to 'festival of music' - world music day would be 'fete de la musique du monde' :)
