"Life in the Fast Lane" was a song coined by the American rock band, Eagles. Now you'll be able to live such a life, and with good reason not to worry about safety. That's because the trusted name in automobiles, Volvo, has revamped their three-door C30 to look sleeker and sportier than ever!

Volvo introduced two new variants during their launch, the C30 and higher-range C30 T5 R-Design. With major changes made to the exterior of the sporty coupe, you'll definitely be "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" at the sight of the C30. "Zippy, funky and sexy and a virtual head-turner wherever they're driven, the new C30 2.0 and T5 R-Design are bound to create waves, even among younger, non-traditional Volvo fans," said a beaming Goran Larsson, Volvo Car Malaysia President.

The most obvious and noticeable change is the new front, where the headlamps cut a fiercer look on the mobile, and the grille sports a new pattern (honeycomb-like as opposed to the horizontal lines of the older version). The space where the fog lamps are placed also look sharper and more distinctive, giving the C30 a distinctive personality.

Moving to the rear, the lines and contours are curvier and more angled, as compared to the older C30. The black bumper (the plastic panel at the bottom) is now replaced with colour, as the body has been extended lower down, making the car look less cheap.

Now, safety features of cutting-edge technology have been incorporated into the Volvo C30, giving it more edge. The key has a sensor so you don't need to plug in and drive anymore. There are active Dual-Xenon Bending Lights, which are moving headlamp beams which are very useful if you're driving at night, on winding roads, as it follows the curve of the path. To avoid accidents, there is a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) which uses cameras mounted into the side mirrors on the doors, to inform the driver if there is a vehicle in the blind spot. If you have an annoying person tailgating you, then this feature will come in handy: Adaptive Brake Lights. If you brake suddenly at speeds above 50km/hour, the brake lights will flash at a rate of five times per second.

The more expensive T5 R-Design model, which has a 2.5 litre capacity, runs on a 5-Speed Geartronic Transmission, while the other C30 2.0 litre capacity model is fitted with a 6-Speed Powershift (Dual Clutch Transmission), which boasts up to 8% better fuel efficiency that its predecessor. For the T5 R-Design model, there are now dual chrome exhaust tailpipes, and the leather seats come in a sexy red shade!

Price-wise, the Volvo is a little steep for a 3-door hatchback, but if you've got the means, why not?

The 145 horsepower 6-Speed Powershift C30 2.0 will set you back RM215,000 (on-the-road without insurance), while the 230 horsepower, 5-cylinder 2.5 litre T5 R-Design comes at the price of RM259,000 (on-the-road without insurance).

Interested? Just drop by any Volvo showroom in the country (visit their website for addresses and contact numbers) from April 24 onwards.
