Cookies n Cream

Tuesday, 02/03/10 - 11:13AM Filed in Lifestyle by yangching | Views: 1593 | Comments: 0

Independent boutiques are not hard to find, just walk down the streets of Telawi and you will be spoilt for choice. However, this cosy little nook tucked away in Solaris Mont Kiara begs to be noticed. Located on the first floor, Cookies n Cream is inviting, with a long row of blouses and dresses to browse through.

What you would find on the rack are silky, beaded blouses; satin tops with ruffles; pretty dresses with bows and Peter Pan collars; and rompers with a vintage-y flower motif. The chic collection of clothes is perfect for a weekend in summer, but some of the pieces are formal enough for work. Mavis Ler, the boutique owner, says she handpicks the clothes herself, usually in Bangkok and Taiwan. She is expanding her sources to Korea, since there is a growing demand from the locals here.

"My boutique is cosy and comfy, which matches the concept of my clothing," says Mavis. "The name itself is reflective of the whole idea, the ambience that I want to project," she adds. Indeed, the space is decorated in shades of white and birch, and the large window allows the boutique to be lit by natural sunlight.

Mavis had always wanted to open a boutique, but she started with a blogshop to test the market. Her blogshop, which she still operates, was created in August 2009, while the boutique in Solaris Mont Kiara opened early January.

Visit her website at www.cookiesncreamboutique.blogspot.com, email her at cookiesncream.cnc@gmail.com, or visit her at 7-1, Jalan Solaris 3, Solaris Mont'Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.
