Sony World Photography Awards Global Tour 2009/2010 Preview

Tuesday, 02/03/10 - 10:49AM Filed in The Arts by yangching | Views: 2013 | Comments: 0

The latest offering from GALERI PETRONAS is indeed an intriguing one. The walls of the gallery will serve as a temporary home to the highly anticipated Sony World Photography Awards (WPA) 2009/2010 Global Tour exhibition.

Established in 2007, the Sony WPA serves as a platform for amateur and professional photographers to push boundaries in photography. Fresh from its worldwide tour to cities like Hong Kong, Paris, New York, London and Bangkok, GALERI PETRONAS will host the tour's first ever stop on our shores.

Curated by 2009 Honorary Judge, Zelda Cheatle, the exhibition places the spotlight on photographs by the winners and finalists of the global, annual programme. In these 75 award-winning photography artworks, Malaysian art and photography enthusiasts will get to see photographs spanning across a variety of genres including fashion, architecture, advertising, sport and music.

Also on show are the digital presentations of the full series from each winning photographer, images submitted by student photographers from the world over and image documentation by Spanish photographer, Daniel Beltra, from his trip to the rainforests. If you've got more time to spare, be sure to check out a series of weekend photography sessions and workshops at the gallery. Visit www.galeripetronas.com.my for more info.
