Leonardo's Review

Wednesday, 17/02/10 - 12:00PM Filed in Food by myra | Views: 5381 | Comments: 1

Leonardo’s says anything that tastes good gets into their menu, explaining the presence of char kway teow next to Angus ribeye steak. This lack of identity carries forward into the double-floored restaurant itself: it has a wine lounge, an odd little cheese deli next to the stairwell, and both indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Fans of the Attic (this address’s previous occupant) would probably feel dread to see the old musical institution replaced with an Italian-ish one-stop for dining and drinking. Thankfully, Leonardo’s gets many things right. Take the Fried Frog (RM23) - crispy yet moist and tender on the inside. Or the Portobello Bacon (RM20), a wonderful combination of grilled mushroom with crunchy bacon bits. You won’t be disappointed with the Aglio Olio Scallop (RM36). The Pork Shoulder Steak (RM40) was special. It’s impressive how they kept the tougher parts delicate enough so that it just beyond pink, hence, tender and perfectly cooked. Decent house pours of CYT Chilean Sauvignon Blanc (RM20) and Oxford Landing Australian Chardonnay (RM24) make up for the Oreo Cheese Cake (RM16), which is a little heavy for dessert. Trying to please everyone wasn’t too bad an idea, after all.
