Saosin in KL Preview

Friday, 15/01/10 - 16:10PM Filed in Music by huishan | Views: 2263 | Comments: 0

We’re counting our lucky stars that the rumour of this concert is finally confirmed! Saosin, the Californian band from Newport Beach, has over the years built a dedicated fanbase for themselves that has grown steadily across the globe.

Purveyors of fine post-hardcore, alternative and rock sounds, the band’s name has a pretty Asian origin – Saosin is derived from the Mandarin phrase for ‘be careful’ or ‘small heart’. Their first EP, released in 2003, entitled Translating The Name quickly put the band on the map by first gaining momentum online through forums and MySpace. But even the taste of success couldn’t keep the band together; founding members like vocalist Anthony Green, Pat McGrath and Zach Kennedy left before the release of their first full-length album, Saosin.

After a nationwide audition to fill the role of lead vocals, the band firmed up their line-up with members Cove Reber (vocals), Beau Burchell (guitars), Justin Shekoski (guitars), Chris Sorenson (bass) and Alex Rodriguez (drums). Their latest, In Search Of Solid Ground was released just in 2009, after an anticipated three-year wait by fans.

In between their debut and their sophomore, the band toured intensely and was even announced as the headliner for the 2009 Vans Warped Tour – a testament to their popularity, perhaps? We won’t be surprised … They kinda have it going on: pin-up emo boy looks? Check. Great live energy? Check. Good songs? Check. And so we draw a conclusion: their KL concert is going to be off-the-rocker.
