The New Malay Mail

Tags: Malay Mail Newspaper Wednesday Established 1896,opinions | Posted on 07 May 2008 by sarah

For the last few days, I've been trying hard to get into the new Malay Mail. It looks like NST now and has content that wants to be The Sun.

Now that has me all confused because what I loved about Malay Mail before was how it just oozed of tabloid sensationalism. This is the newspaper I would reach to avoid the advertisement glut of The Star, the serious activist vibe of The Sun and the former fence-sitting in NST.

Malay Mail's pages was all about celebrity gossip, depravity in society and lots of seedy details. I miss all that now.

I'm trying hard to get used to the new format, but I can't help feeling like the old village bicycle gossip slut has gone for some extreme makeover. She's back now with new veneer teeth, massive facial reconstructive surgery and a law degree from Harvard with a mission to change the world.

What do you guys think?
