MxPx All-Stars Preview

Wednesday, 02/12/09 - 11:35AM Filed in Music by yangching | Views: 1518 | Comments: 0

MxPx, the punk trio from Bremerton, Washington, will be making a stop in Kuala Lumpur in December. Formed over two decades ago in 1992, the band has released seven full-length albums, a collection of covers, four EPs, three compilations and one live album.

Consisting of vocalist/bassist Mike Herrera, Tom Wisniewski (guitars) and Yuri Ruley (drums), MxPx's sound is full of energy and perfect for the mosh pit and some pogo dancing. It's an extra special treat when they perform on 11 December as the MxPx line-up will be changed for KL. Mike Herrera will be joined by Kris Roe, frontman of the Ataris, and Chris Wilson, from the Summer Obsession, will be on drums.

The special line-up is because Yuri recently welcomed a baby and Tom just wanted to be home during the holiday season. Having been a sessionist for the band before, Chris Wilson was a natural choice to substitute on drums; Kris on the other hand has been a longtime friend, and is reported to be delighted to give up singer duties and just play guitar for an entire set. Be prepared for some tracks from MxPx, the Ataris and covers on this set. Supporting bands at this gig include Pee Wee Gaskins (Indonesia), Bunkface, Hello, Is This The Band?, Skunkfix and Dichi Michi.
