Food Invades PJ

Preview | Posted on 30 April 2008 by denise

Residents of Section 13 Petaling Jaya are finally getting what they deserve - a community centre brimming with cafes and restaurants in a neat package that is Jaya One.

In a scheme to get the neighbourhood to unite in the name of food, Jaya One launched the Eat, Eat, Eat Restaurant Festival on 27 March, which will run through to 31 May. Jaya One distributed more than 2,000 cash voucher packs worth RM50 each to the lucky residents of Section 13 and its surrounding neighbourhoods. The vouchers are redeemable during the festival, which takes place in two areas of Jaya One – Palm Square and Wai Sek Kai.

At the heart of Jaya One lies eight two-storey restaurants serving some of the tastiest cuisine in the Valley. Among them are Indonesian restaurant, Berisik which dishes up a mean plate of kerabu mangga and yummy green chicken curry, and Thai restaurant Kinnaree, known for their refreshing Kinnaree Tea and delicious paper prawns. Visitors looking for a nice chill out session with friends over light snacks and drinks will be spoilt for choice with Starbucks, Secret Recipe, Old Town White Coffee and Secret Recipe available at their fingertips.

Jaya One also caters more affordable meals at Wai Sek Kai, which runs along the Jalan 13/6 end of Jaya One. Wai Sek Kai has everything from the token Malaysian all-night mamak, nasi kandar to chicken rice, and of course, Western fast food. Hurray for all you PJ-sters, no more trekking to faraway places – well, Bangsar that is – to fill that bottomless belly!
