Smacked right in the heart of Petaling Street is Venus Art and Stationery. This 40 year-old business started out as a stationery supplier before it ventured into art supplies. These days, Venus Art offers a range of art materials such as brushes, canvases, art paper, pens, graphic art materials, artist’s paints, molding materials and more.

KNOWN FOR: Purveyor of art materials for Chinese ink painting and calligraphy.

2. NANYANG ART SUPPLIES

Nanyang Art Supplies, also located in Petaling Street, is another joint for fellow artists. Although it has been said to be pricier, Nanyang Art Supplies carries an extensive range of paper products, as well as paints, canvases amongst others.

KNOWN FOR: Paper of different quality.

3. ART FRIEND

Art Friend’s first foray into Malaysia was by opening an outlet in Plaza Uncang Emas on Jalan Loke Yew. They subsequently moved into The Gardens. With products lined up from floor to ceiling, wall to wall, Art Friend stocks up on arts, craft, stationery and school supplies. Look out for brands like Plaid, Elmers, Herlitz, Faber Castell and more.

KNOWN FOR: A one-stop shop for all.

4. CZIPLEE PLUS

What’s cool about CzipLee Plus is that it doesn’t limit itself to just art supplies. Sure, it’s got its fair share of canvases of every size imaginable, but Cziplee Plus is also the place for notebooks, premium pens, scrapbooking materials and even art classes.

KNOWN FOR: The wall of Moleskine and Rhodia notebooks.

5. MULTIFILLA

Although a little out of the way in Balakong, Multifilla has the reputation of being Malaysia’s largest and most comprehensive stockist for arts and craft materials. The 2,500 sq. feet showroom is filled with supplies ranging from paints to carving tools to air compressors.
