Recharge Preview

Thursday, 01/10/09 - 20:31PM Filed in Nightlife by sarah | Views: 3176 | Comments: 0

It’s been a while since the last big Recharge. Some of you might be expecting another full-blown festival a-la Recharge Revelation but the party series returns with a new attitude. A month-long “campaign”, Recharge will now hit major clubs across Malaysia, ensuring that all Malaysians have a chance to party with them.

Kicking off at Tin Valley in Ipoh on 2 October, Recharge then travels to Swing (Kuantan, 10 Oct), Pure Bar (Melaka, 16 Oct), Lush (Johor Bahru, 17 Oct), JB Discovery (Johor Bahru, 23 Oct), Blanc (KL, 30 Oct), Fuel (Butterworth, 31 Oct), before capping it off nicely at Paragon, Kuching on 21 November.

For the upcoming parties, Recharge is bringing down an army of DJs from the USA (DJs Cobra and Sid Vicious), Australia (DJ tyDi), Taiwan (DJs Cookie and Bigg) and Finland (Proteus). Of course, local DJs get some lovin’ too – Didjital, Fono, Classick, Terrence C, Bass Agents and Luqe are amongst those who will be traveling across the country to spin. Live performances will also be incorporated at each party. Crowd favourite, Caprice, is already scheduled to hit Tin Valley and Swing and party-starter Arabyrd will no doubt shake crowds up at Pure Bar and Lush.

For Recharge’s KL stint, clubbers will see DJ tyDi at the decks (he’ll also be headlining the Butterworth gig). At only 22-years-old, tyDi (real name: Tyson Illingworth) was bestowed the title of Australia’s number one DJ in 2008. Here’s some trivia: he’s got a track entitled “Kopi Susu”. He’ll be joined at Blanc by the hard-hitting Didjital and songbird/DJ Melissa Indot.

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
