Not Washed Out

Very soon, scores of dedicated musical groupies will begin to make their pilgrimage to the Panggung Sari theatre hall at Istana Budaya. No, we’re not talking about the folks on their way to yet another Datuk Siti Nurhaliza concert; we’re referring to the art buffs heading to watch Cuci The Musical. And, by Jove, do they know where to have a good time! Cuci The Musical, adapted from the film Cuci, tells the story of four young boys who leave their adopted mother and kampung to become window cleaners in the city. Armed with nothing but big dreams in their pockets, they aspire to win the most coveted contract in the window washing industry, which is cleaning the KLCC Twin Towers’ windows! There’s an all-star lineup of sorts for this production.  Funnymen AC Mizal, Afdlin Shauki, Awie and Hans Isaac will be joined by Harith Iskander, Vanida Imran, Adibah Noor and Ramli Hassan.  While award-winning directors Dato’ Zahim Albakri and Harith Iskander are in the directors’ seat, Cuci The Musical will also feature a witty script by Douglas Lim, score by Pacai, musical direction by Rudi Muhamad, set design by Raja Maliq and choreography by West End star Stephen Rahman-Hughes. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to book our tickets!

Cuci The Musical will run from 23 October – 8 November at Istana Budaya. Tickets are priced between RM43 – RM253 and are already on sale. Call Axcess Hotline (03-7711 5000), go online at www.axcess.com.my or visit any authorized Axcess outlets today.

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
