Stand outside La Bodega on Jalan Telawi 2, and look up the row opposite, and you'll see Bombshell’s signboard in big pink uppercase all letters. It’s eye-catching definitely. And inside there’s more things to dazzle the senses. The creation of hair and beauty experts Ming and Jason and fashion stylist Ethan, Bombshell is a combination of two shops in one, specialising in personal grooming and fashion. Bombshell is the name of the salon, and the name of of the fashion boutique that shares the same space is Showpink. With funky wallpaper and quirky little touches all over the shop, including a mannequin leg jutting out of the counter, Bombshell is fun and refreshing.

According to the shop owners, the inspiration for the interior comes from flower power, punk, hippy, glam-rock and club kids. Ethan explains further, "We always wanted to do a Vivienne Westwood-style SEX shop, but due to our country’s restrictions, we came up with this." Which all sounds nice and dandy but what’s the bottom line? Prices for a cut and wash range from RM40 (men) to RM50 (ladies), while colouring is RM90+ (men) and RM120+ (ladies). Not bad for a highly decorated shop, with Ming being the outstanding looking hairstylist whose head everyone wants to borrow for a night out. With prices ranging from RM39 to RM399, Show Pink has a brilliant line of clothes sourced from young designers from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and London, plus customised design pieces from accessories to footwear. Coming up soon in this section are a rare sneakers, coloured skinny jeans, nu-rave wear, biker jackets to branded vintage bags and clothings. Ethan himself plans to add "a line of street -nspired collection next year and teaming up with a few local accessories designers." Something to save up for? Most definitely.
