Dig.It.All Preview

Dig.It.All asks “Can you dig it?” Dig what exactly? How does this sound to you: over 30 acts have been lined up for Dig.It.All in August, the first date in this series of open-air music festivals.  The line-up presents a mix of local and international acts, strutting their stuff on stage against a backdrop of eye-popping visual effects.

Artistes come from a smorgasbord of genres, ranging from dance, R&B, rock, punk, even some jazz and percussions thrown in the mix, courtesy of acts John Thomas Trio and Diplomats of Drum.

One of the fest’s headliners are none other than Grammy winners, Dirty Vegas. You might remember them from the track, “Days Go By” in 2002. The trio of Ben Harris, Paul Harris and Steve Smith actually broke up but reformed in December 2008. Good news for the music industry, no doubt. Since getting back together, they’ve been burning up the DJ circuit, spinning at President Barack Obama’s inauguration parties and at the 2009 Winter Music Conference. You’ll be in for a treat for Dig.It.All as Dirty Vegas will be playing a live set.

Another name to look out for is Tocadisco. The German DJ/producer has worked with heavyweights like David Guetta and Benny Benassi, perfecting his party-starting skills. Local acts get their share of the limelight too. Some of our favourite acts are billed including Yuna, Komplot, Bunkface, Hujan, Love Me Butch and plenty more. The party ends at 2am so pace yourself!

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
