Looking for something different in the cinemas this month? You’re in luck. From 8 to 16 May, head out to Golden Screen Cinemas in MidValley, 1 Utama and Pavilion to catch flicks that will be screened in conjunction with the French Film Festival. Love Is In the Air
Director: Remi Bezacon Cast: Vincent Elbaz, Marion Cotillard
This romantic comedy is about Yann who has a fear of flying due to the fact his mother died while giving birth to him on board an airplane. His phobia gets the better of him when he’s unable to board a plane to visit his girlfriend Charlotte in Australia. Ten years later, he meets a new girl Alice but ghosts of his past return to haunt him, threatening their romance.
Read My Lips
Director: Jacques Audiard Cast: Vincent Cassel, Emmanuelle Devos
Two social misfits, Carla and Paul, are trying to deal with their insecurities. Carla is almost deaf and always abused by her colleagues, while Paul is an ex-con who struggles to put his past behind him. Together they try to overcome their flaws in unconventional ways.
Paris, Je T’aime
Director: Various Cast: Steve Buscemi, Juliette Binoche, Elijah Wood
A must-watch collection of 18 short film sequences dealing with various themes and settings, directed by a who’s who list of respected filmmakers like Gus Van Sant, Joel Coen, Alexander Payne and Wes Craven (to name but a few) – all set within the City of Light.
Breathless
Director: Jean-Luc Godard Cast: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg
This 1959 classic is a must-watch for any self-proclaimed film buff. It follows the life of Michel, a fugitive on the run after shooting down a cop. His infatuation with young American Patricia and affiliation with Parisian gangsters build up to a tragic climax.

why do such deeply creative and highly regarded cinema only shown during festivals.
will there be a day we would have an alternative cinema?something to counter tgv and gsc.
