Apple iPhone 3GS in Malaysia late July
The Apple iPhone 3GS was all anyone could talk about after the news broke of its new and improved features at this week's Worldwide Developers Conference 2009. It looks to be yet another lust-worthy gadget from Apple but the most important info you can take away from this is that it will be launched in Malaysia sometime in late July, a source close to Maxis says.
Plenty of questions abound of course, one of pressing ones about whether the price for the iPhone 3G will drop in Malaysia, reflecting upon the price decrease in the States. We've got no confirmation on this but our guess is, it won't drop by much.
But if you're one of the few who just got their iPhone 3G, don't forget that you can get phone updated with the iPhone OS 3.0. The software updates will allow you to cut, copy and paste text, send MMS (OMG, FINALLY) and record voice memos, amongst others. The software update is available from 17 June. And this may be redundant information by now, but for those wondering what are the key differences between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS, this nifty comparison chart here will help.
What are your initial reactions though? Going to upgrade your iPhone 3G to the 3GS? Converting from your Blackberry to Apple? Or lusting after other "iPhone killers" like the Palm Pre or the Nokia N97?

I'm lusting after the Palm Pre. Though it will take awhile to get here. I guess, I'll either get the iPhone, or the N97 - because the camera quality is just so awesome.
i really want the iPhone 3GS but that really depends on the price point though! it's either that or a BB Bold for me right now.

blackberry storm is much more better than iphone 3g, or iphone 3gs, cheaper and more features, the spec also higher. but the more important thing is storm is cheaper.
I have been using the original iPhone for two years now so I am looking forward to upgrading to the 3GS. However, I just wished DiGi would hurry up with their mobile 3G network. I understand Maxis is over congested. But back to the phone. The real reason for using the iPhone are the many cool apps you can install in it. I tried the Storm and although it is quite good, the interface and responsiveness is still a step or two behind the iPhone and especially now with the iPhone 3GS. Blackberry used to have push email as it's USP but iPhone has that now.
I been using 2g and 3g and loving it and now even more on 3.0 update..... 3gs is a must have with new voice control and video recording.... Will get my hand on ittttt......

$99 is the 3G model and 3Gs will be priced at $199.
So not much difference if 3Gs reaches our shores, maxis will still retain it's current pricing
Blackberry Storm or other so-called "iphone killers" can suck it! so bad till its numb. Or windows based smartphones like HTC, Palm, etc for that matter. cause they don't have 3893970473 apps like iphone does. But blackberry bold is nice.
$99 (3G) & $199 (3Gs) is for U.S consumer, tied with AT&T contract. *note the $, not RM... :D

Maxis will be announced pricing for iPhone 3GS by 15 July '09 and expected to be launching around 17 July '09.
No information on exact release date yet, nor the pricing.
