Hot Wings
Think fast food, think foreign. And that wouldn't be wrong, considering that the market for fast food is dominated by huge, global brands. Which makes B.Wings a refreshing change! Founded by Jack Yip, B. Wings has all the trappings of a fast food restaurant—bright colours, self-service concept, plastic furnishings. But that's where the similarities end.
For one, their speciality is, you guessed it, buffalo wings. Certainly an unconventional choice for someone venturing into his first F&B project. “I used to work in a buffalo wings restaurant in the USA, so the idea [for B.Wings] came from there. And in Malaysia, a lot of people associate fast food with just burgers and pizza, so this is something different.”
Secondly, everything is made to order; you won't see rows of prepared buffalo wings going stale in the open air. But doesn't that mean that the food won't be, well, fast? Jack says that he does inform the customer that it might take a little longer for their dish to arrive, but guarantees freshness that you'll be hard-pressed to find at most fast food joints. On the menu are 6 different types of buffalo wings: Peppercorn Cream, Teriyaki, Garlic Parmesan, BBQ, Hot Sauce and Lemon Pepper. The plan, according to Jack, is to have 10 different flavours and already two more are ready to join the menu in July—Honey Cajun and Mustard.
Besides buffalo wings, you can also order Cheese Nachos, Jumbo BBQ Chicken burger and their fajitas—all of which are homemade. The burger, for example, includes a generous chicken patty made from their own recipe and smothered with cheese sauce and vegetables. It looks sloppy and eats messily, but is completely satisfying. B.Wings doesn't meet all the conventions of a fast food outlet but that's a compliment. Check out B.Wings for yourself at 14, Jalan SS15/4, 47500 Subang Jaya. Tel: 03-5632 2333.
