Kam...In Your Face

For better or worse, Joanne Kam will always be known among KL-ites as the bitchiest drag queen that has ever invaded the Klang Valley… except that she’s never been… a drag, that is. After laying her Boom Boom Room days to rest, Joanne returns to the stage this month for a in a whole new musical comedy cabaret extravaganza aptly titled Kam… In Your Face. Based on Parisian and Vegas cabaret shows, Joanne insists that her show will be fun, fun, fun all the way, with bawdy humour that will appeal to the lowest common denominator thrown in for good measure. To help her out, Joanne will be joined onstage by guest stars Gavin Yap, Douglas Lim, Susan Lankester, Fang Chyi, Ho Soon Yoon, Ash Nair, Ina Fabregas, and Malik Taufiq, not to mention Joanne’s own troupe of dancing girls and boys (100% genuine). Joanne and company will be singing and dancing localised versions of popular ditties such as “Feelin’ Good”, “Tainted Love” and “Disco Inferno”. Aside from song and dance, the show’s programme will also feature humorous skits, including intriguing takes on CSI (set in Petaling Street) and that B-grade classic Streets Of Fire. Of course, the piece de resistance of the whole show will be Joanne herself, who promises no one will leave the show unentertained.
