Knight Castle 09
Okay we know, technically, Knight Castle 09 isn’t a KL event. But who are we kidding when we all know that the majority of revelers planning to attend this party will be making the drive from Kuala Lumpur? Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, we can get on with what Knight Castle has to offer!
Though the name of the rave reads like a chess match, Knight Castle promises to be a lot less stressful and mind-numbing. To be held in the chill of the French Village at Bukit Tinggi, otherwise known as Berjaya Hills, Knight Castle is brought to you by Pentagon Matrix and Maison (yes, the club on Asian Heritage Row). Suddenly, the French and medieval references seem to make more sense. Pentagon Matrix recently organised Massive Worldwide 2008, a year-end party which packed the grounds of CapSquare with party animals ready to dance up a storm to the sets of DJs Erik Nilsson, Scott Alert, Cosmic Gate, Bass Agents and Nikki. They’re hoping to repeat the success of Massive Worldwide with an equally exciting line-up for Knight Castle. Headliners are Sander van Doorn and Woody van Eyden—both hail from the Netherlands!
Sander is a trance and techno maestro, having made a very impressive debut on the influential DJ Mag top 100 poll at number 32 in 2006. That’s a pretty sweet spot to occupy for a newbie! Since then he’s released his own album in 2008 entitled Supernaturalistic. Woody van Eyden on the other hand is better known as a producer who’s collaborated and remixed for recognisable names like Alex M.O.R.P.H., Armin van Buuren, Andy Moor and Duderstadt, making him a figure to watch out for. Also on the line-up is DJ Sharry from Indonesia, DJ Nikki from Malaysia (you go girl!) and the return of Australia’s Scott Alert, rounding up a list worth the winding drive.
The organisers have more good news, especially if you’re a blogger. Head to the Knight Castle website, copy their banner, and paste on your blog. Then post an entry about why you deserve to be their “Blogger King” or “Blogger Queen” of the week and link your blog on their website. Every week from 20 March to 24 April, the organisers will select a winner who will get a pair of tickets for free. If you think blogging is lame, then dance it out. Head to Maison on 22 April between 7.30pm to 10.30pm and show off your dance moves to the judges to win free tickets! So let’s see—cold mountain air, lush greenery, faux-French architecture, free tickets and good music, pounding in your ears? We are so there.
