Heritage Mansion Review

Saturday, 01/12/07 - 18:20PM Filed in Nightlife by trainee | Views: 635 | Comments: 0

A mention of the word “mansion” conjures images of an extravagant, huge and exclusive establishment. Such is the projected image of Heritage Mansion, an exclusive nightspot on Asian Heritage Row. And on our visit there, exclusive at the Heritage Mansion is no mere image, it’s a mantra.

So how exclusive is exclusive? For the naÔve among you, please be aware that admission to the club is strictly by invitation. So, even before you’re even thinking of dolling yourself up for a night out at the Mansion, scheme your way to that all-important guest list. Because you seriouly don't want to be that embarrassed non-person who gets turned away at the door.

Upon passing the big bouncers and lovely ladies at the reception, you will see a beautifully lit walkway. Immediately to your left is the Playground, which is the Mansion’s outdoor section for those who prefer fresh air or looking to take a breather from the exclusiveness of it all.

Next you may catch glimpses of the room where glamorous couches upholstered in gold fabric are situated. This is the Gold Lounge… for the VIPs. If you’re not VIP, keep on walking.

The main section on the ground floor is the Fashion Bar, where you can find the glamour-er than thou set partying away. It's called Fashion Bar because Heritage Mansion is very fashion-oriented, with an on-going “thing” happening with a rota of fashion designers showcasing their creativity in the space. Walk in further, you'll find yourself in The Dining Parlour, which boasts a courtyard, a massive aquarium wall, and plasma screen TVs! Whoever said exclusive people don’t watch TVs don’t know their terrine from their pate.

With such a level of exclusivity, expect quirks. Wednesday night at Heritage Mansion is Models’ Night. If you’re lucky enough to have a modelling contract, produce your calling card at the entrance, and you’ll be treated to complimentary drinks and model-friendly cuisine. On Fridays, it's Back To House nights with the DJ serving up some soulful house while Saturday is Rock The House that ends the weekend party cycle on a bouncier note.

To enjoy such exclusivity demands a serious investment of interest. Effective 1 January 2008, if you're not a member, you have no right to be in Heritage Mansion. To get membership, either you wait to be picked from the thousands of hopefuls for your looks, charms or talents, or you sign up for a monthly RM1,500 membership package that comes with three bottles, food vouchers, invitation to the monthly members' only party, and entry into Heritage Mansion. It’s safe not all of you will be able to afford it. But perhaps your credit card company might take pity.

What do you wish you had more of as a child?
Pocket money! I used to get only 20sen back in school.
Respect from my parents. I am my own person!
I wish my parents listened to me, instead of keeping to the idea that "children should be seen and not heard"
Attention! My siblings took it away from me. Grrr!
Freedom. My parents never let me go out with my friends.
Brand new clothes, not hand-me-downs that were ill-fitting!
Maturity to impress and annoy the adults with.
Time! Everything happened so quickly and I miss those carefree days.
Toys, gadgets and the latest computer games, because we kids were competitive about things like that.
I certainly wish I heard less of the phrase, "When I was your age..."
