How was your Jason Mraz concert experience?

I believe we speak for the majority when we say we're still reeling in awe from last night's concert!! From where we were standing, it looked to be a sold-out show, and organizers Marctensia confirmed later that 9,000 fans had showed up to see the geek in pink live.

Here's how the crowd looked like from up above.

The fedora-ed one was as expected, charming on stage with his ad-libbing, spazzy dancing and crowd banter. I don't believe I've ever heard the word "inopportune" uttered in a concert before .... The set list was mostly tracks from We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, but of course, hits like "The Remedy", "You and I Both" and "Geek In The Pink" were represented. Penny Tai came on stage during the second verse of "Lucky". We don't know if she was late or it was just for stage dramatics. But in any case, we felt that she could've done the song more justice by having a bit more soul while performing the song.

What do you think? Let us know!

More of Mraz in KLue's April issue. Here's a video of him performing "A Beautiful Mess" from last night.

Setlist:

  1. Make It Mine
  2. The Remedy
  3. You And I Both (mash-up with "Sleeping to Dream" and Oasis's "Wonderwall")
  4. It It Kills Me
  5. Life Is Wonderful
  6. Live High
  7. A Beautiful Mess
  8. Geek In The Pink
  9. Dynamo
  10. I'm Yours
  11. Lucky
  12. No Stopping Us
  13. Butterfly

I love me some Mraz....but, sweetie your video isn't good. Jason sounds distorted and the crowd noise drowns him out. I do appreciate your effort, but Jason deserves better. He isn't getting the respect he deserves in your video.....I'm so sorry to say. Jason needs to be heard and seen in quality, and camera phones just don't do it.
I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a serious fan! =) I've been to many Mraz shows and I know how hard it is to get the recording without the background noise.
I do love that pic of Jason! That's a GREAT shot!!

korina - yup we just did what we could with a digicam since no photographers or videographers were allowed. for the benefit of those who didn't get a chance to go of course.

and the shot was courtesy of the organizers.

Mraz was ridiculously brilliant. He's a fantastic performer and have great showmanship. The way he engaged the crowd since the get-go is to be admired. I miss him already!

And Penny Tai was... ehh.. I think it would've been better just to have the crowd sings her part.

Bad enough she was late but to butcher the song as well... Thanks for representing M'sia!

What a great performer...

I wish he would consider coming to Dubai for a gig... can't wait to see him performing live

Couldn't get enough of the Mraz and am still going through post-concert reviews and clips.Wish it was longer and would have loved a new song. But it was great that he covered the songs that mostly everyone knew and the crowd was so into the Mraz that we sang along to almost all the songs.. Such a tight performance, relaxed, intimate, energetic - his warmth for the audience and passion for his music stretched out to all corners of the stadium that it didn't matter where you were sitting. We left the stadium feeling fulfilled yet hungry for more. Too short! 2 hours next time?

Thanks for your response Sarah. I reread what I wrote and realized how extremely rude I was, and I'd like to apologize to you. You tried your best and I had no right to judge you.

I enjoyed the performance by Mr Jason Mraz. It was rather shorter than the usual concerts I went to but since the day after that is a working day, I guess I can let him off the hook. Well, to sum it up, Jason Mraz rocked the whole stadium but I can't say that I enjoyed the entire event with the extremely poor ventilation in the stadium, especially at the ROCK ZONE.

Seriously, the organizer is horrible in NOT making sure that the people who've paid for the tix would get better ventilation. Well, after this experience, I wouldn't wanna give my hard earn money to Marctensia in future.
