It’s easy to like Bellaroma, a spacious and casual Italian restaurant in Damansara Perdana. With a menu of simple favourites and a friendly welcoming staff, it’s possible to imagine the neighbourhood’s residents choosing this new restaurant as a more personal alternative to the other dining options at The Curve. Enthusiasm, however, doesn’t make up for the fact that the restaurant still seems to be feeling its way around. Bellaroma has potential, but it needs to address several basic issues first—the freshness of ingredients and proper order of service. Portion sizes are a little overwhelming, especially for the starters. The seasoning was also rather uneven. A seafood risotto was rich and creamy, but it was only after a sprinkle of salt that the flavours of the scallops, calamari and prawns emerged. The Osso bucco, however, was much better, full of the hearty goodness of the leg of lamb.
