Updates: Euphoria by MOS.

People have been talking for months about Euphoria by Ministry of Sound. Located near the lobby of Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, we'll soon find out whether the club passes the jeng test or not when it opens its doors in May. (Update: I just got word that the launch has been pushed to first week of June)

But here's what we can divulge at the moment. The sound system is designed by one Austen Derek, who has worked on systems at Studio 54 and MOS London. The club itself will be constructed in a circular form, "soaring 120 feet at its peak, accomodating up to 1,500 people on three levels." The Mezzanine has exclusive glass-walled suites for intimacy while the first floor houses the main dancefloor. The ground floor will consist of an outdoor lounge for people to chill and have a drink before heading inside to party. Oh, the lounge also turns into a club after hours, allowing for two different types of music to be played at one go.

So what kinda music can you expect? Well, looking at the info sent over, there's honestly quite a variety when it comes to the themed nights. There's, of course, the cash cows of R&B/hip hop (nights: Smoove, Milkshake) and dance music (nights: Electro House, Move). But there are quite a few interesting nights to look out for like, Open Format (DJ picks two genres and fuses it together for something fresh, but familiar) and the bizarrely-named Save The Robots, which reads like a night to experiment with new sounds and global trends. Sounds good on paper. I can only hope it translates well too.

As for resident DJs, they've confirmed DJ Nesh, Patrick Oliver, Ian Ross and Victor G. They've even got a resident MC - say hello to Vandal. Watch this space for updates, or you could try www.euphoria.com.my too.

UPDATES

Yep it's true. Euphoria is indeed opening on 2 July. There's a big banner announcing that in front of the club currently. Also, admission is strictly for those 21 years and above. Cover charge as follows: RM50 on Fridays and Saturdays, RM40 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, RM20 on Sundays to Tuesdays. Admission is inclusive of 1 drink.

Another update: apparently Vandal is no longer attached to Euphoria.
